Job Title: Public Affairs Officer
Working For: Drax

As the Public Affairs Officer, you will be supporting the Senior Public Affairs Manager and the wider External Affairs team in building and managing the Group’s reputation with a broad range of political and external stakeholders in the UK.
This role is a key part of the integrated External Affairs function which also includes the media and PR, strategic communications, and digital teams with the role supporting those functions as appropriate.
This is a permanent, full-time role. What’s great about this role is we can offer hybrid working with the main location being our London Office. You’ll spend 1-2 days in our London office with regular visits to our power station in North Yorkshire. We can accommodate to some extent flexible working hours, as with this role, you’ll need to be slightly flexible too - with some weekend and evening work when we are representing Drax at events (this is not frequent, only on occasions)
About the role
You’ll be a vital team member, adding your expertise and value across the public affairs team as well as the broader Drax company.
You’ll lead development and delivery of proactive public affairs strategies and campaigns for the benefit of the Group’s reputation and business interests.
You’ll also be contributing to the Group response to stakeholders during crisis situations to ensure clear and consistent messaging.
As an expert in politics, you’ll provide public affairs updates and monitoring to the wider External Affairs team and leadership teams across the Group to ensure all are appraised of relevant developments.
Drawing upon your experience, you’ll be confident and comfortable collaborating, persuading, and supporting not only the internal senior leadership team but also be a true ambassador externally for the company. You’ll be engaging across political forums and with influential parliamentarians/government officials to ensure that our purpose and vision are clear and supported.
