We are looking for a proactive self-starter who is a team player with a sharp news sense, excellent media judgement and enjoys getting to know journalists to help them shape their stories.

You will assist in handling hundreds of media calls a year that range from a simple factual request for information to an in-depth radio or TV interview. You will also get involved in our proactive campaigns to help promote our advice, research papers and thought leader work to the media whilst maintaining our impartial reputation.

This is a full time permanent role at Acas National five days a week and regular travel to Central London at short notice is a key requirement of the role. 

Main responsibilities include:
• Promote Acas stories to the media and maintain its reputation as impartial workplaces experts;
• Help to deliver a high quality reactive media handling service including regular monitoring of news stories, dealing with media queries and interview bids; contributing to and taking part in the out-of-hours duty rota;
• Work to short deadline to draft press lines in response to journalist queries;
• Advise and support regional colleagues on best practice in PR;
• Leading, creating and delivering effective external campaigns and evaluating results;
• Build and maintain professional relationships with national, regional and specialist media outlets and stakeholders / partners;
• Provide necessary additional support to the Senior Media Manager as required.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place via MS Teams and are likely to take place on week commencing 31th January 2022. The interview will also include include a short written test and a 5-minute presentation. Further details of the presentation will be provided at interview stage.
