Job Details

Cherilyn Mackrory, MP for Truro and Falmouth, is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and politically aware individual to join her team as a Parliamentary Assistant in Westminster. 

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responding to constituents

• Briefing Mrs Mackrory on national and local policy questions, including Early Day Motions, debates, Bills etc

• Assisting with speech & question drafting, including the relevant research and writing briefings

• Providing information and support for Mrs Mackrory with issues relevant to her aims as Truro and Falmouth MP

• Helping with the day to day running of the office in Parliament and administrative duties, including diary management and the Parliamentary office

• Liaising with the constituency office on local campaigns and projects

• Oversee and welcome constituents and guest visits to Parliament

Candidates should have the following skills:

• Experience working in Parliament and for a backbench MP previously is preferred.

• Outstanding communications, written and verbal skills

• Ability to work as a team and independently

• Keen interest in politics and current affairs

  • Knowledge of Truro & Falmouth constituency

• Reliable, highly organised, efficient and work to deadlines 

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
