Job Title: Commercial Diplomacy Officer

Working For: Maldives High Commission in London

Location: London

Salary: £30,036 per annum

Length of Contract: 12 Month with possibility to extend

Job Details

- Work for the High Commission of the Maldives providing assistance with the programme for aid, trade, tourism, and investment (ATTI).

- Monitor developments within the Maldivian and UK business communities, researching and developing new opportunities and investigating potential for trade and investment opportunities between the UK and Maldives.

- Prepare briefs on current economic and political affairs by providing news updates, policy summaries, and research on relevant economic sectors.

- Identify and support in establishing links between commercial organisations in the UK and the Maldives including Chambers of Commerce.

- Support the engagement of relevant politicians, government departments, local government, and external agencies, including establishing, developing, and maintaining effective relationships with key parliamentarians and civil servants.

- Identify funding opportunities available to the Maldives including aid and scholarship opportunities available.

- Profile and target related media bodies for development of opportunities to boost engagement and promote tourism .

- The role will also include work assisting the High Commission and High Commissioner directly in any relevant tasks that are required

Requirements

- Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in international relations, politics, economics, or any related field. Master’s degree is desirable but not essential.

- Must have a strong understanding of trade, tourism, investment, and aid in the UK and of the UK policy landscape.

- Commercial awareness and interest in industry, business, and investment.

- Enthusiasm to take on challenging work and experience of working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.

- Ability to successfully plan, manage, and monitor multiple projects at once.

- Proven organisational and administrative skills with a strong attention to detail.

- Ability to work well within a small team.

- Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel
