Job Details

The Centre for Information Resilience, the UK’s first dedicated non-profit to identifying and countering influence operations, is seeking an outstanding individual to play an important role within a small but growing social enterprise.

The role

This is a brilliant opportunity for a talented communications professional with a journalistic, agency or government communications background to join CIR and grow awareness of our work.

As CIR’s first communications hire, you will have significant freedom and autonomy to grow and adapt the role. We are looking for an ambitious “go getter” with a relentless drive to secure coverage and grow our social media presence. There will be scope to quickly build the role and a communications team around you.

 With your flair for the written word, expertise with media channels and a good network of contacts in media, you’ll bring our research and investigations to the attention of even more people, raising CIR’s profile among journalists and policymakers in the UK, Europe and the U.S. You will design and implement media strategies to reach and engage key audiences.

 With the aim of broadening our outreach and increasing our impact, you’ll work closely with the Global Investigations Unit, using their insights to create news and PR opportunities. Where appropriate, you’ll also assist the programmes team in delivering strategic communications support / crisis communications responses on specific projects.

• Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and taskholders to deliver with tight timeframes.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing sharp copy, as well as longer, more considered pieces; the ability to turn complex concepts into easily digestible copy.
• To be tech-savvy and familiar with running Twitter accounts, updating websites and other digital outlets; willingness to test and innovate with other social media platforms.

Desirable criteria
• Knowledge and experience of mis/disinformation, influence operations and strategic communications.
