The Public Affairs Manager is a mid-senior role in the Communications and Policy directorate, responsible for engaging and building strong relationships with Parliament and with key influencers and stakeholders. Candidates will work with teams and colleagues across the Commission to better articulate our messages for external audiences, handling challenging and often sensitive issues, seeing these to resolution.

Job description

The Public Affairs Manager’s role is to increase the extent and quality of our engagement and to build our wider visibility and reputation as an effective, proactive regulator to support the achievement of our organisational strategy.

The Public Affairs Manager ensures the small public affairs team provides a high-quality service to the Commission and drives continuous improvement in the Commission’s public affairs and stakeholder relations activity.

Responsibilities

· Delivering and evolving the Commission’s public affairs strategy, identifying key issues where the Commission has an interest and seeking opportunities to influence debate and promote the Commission’s agenda
· Ensuring Parliamentary relations are managed effectively day to day, meeting deadlines for PQs, correspondence and ministerial briefings and monitoring Parliamentary events
· Working with every level of the organisation, from senior leadership to caseworkers to advise on external developments and expectations of our work to best resolve proactive and reactive engagement with those beyond the organisation
