Working For: NHS England and NHS Improvement

Location: London

Salary: £78,192 - £90,387 per annum

Length of Contract: 12 months

Job Details

NHS England and NHS Improvement is looking for an experienced communications professional with a proven track-record who would like to be part of a high-performing and dynamic team supporting the NHS in England, and our patients, at this crucial time.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in helping the NHS both manage the current pressures caused by the pandemic, as well as recover services and achieve the improvements for patients set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.

They will do this by leading on short, medium and longer term communications and engagement planning and execution, ranging from overseeing the national communications forward planning grid, setting overarching narratives for the organisation, and developing strategies which bring together the work of the various teams within the organisation.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an excellent level of technical expertise across a range of communications disciplines, and a high level of competence in writing, editing and presenting information for a wide variety of audiences and purposes.

Excellent judgement and strong leadership and management qualities are essential; a first-hand insight into the functioning of the health service would be helpful in being able to hit the ground running, but we welcome and encourage experience and insight from any background, including people with no prior experience of working in the NHS.

Experience of managing and developing individuals and teams is also essential, including creating a supportive and inclusive environment in which colleagues from different backgrounds and with different skills can deliver their best work.

The ideal candidate will also have the ability to manage and prioritise a wide variety of competing demands. They will be a team player with the flexibility to pick up and deliver on tasks which may lie outside of the team’s direct remit.
