Marco Longhi MP is looking for a highly motivated individual to work remotely to assist his busy Dudley Office.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with an interest in policy and a proven ability to respond to a broad range of constituent enquires at pace. Marco is open to speaking with any outstanding candidate and will therefore consider arrangements that include flexible working, Previous experience in politics and handling casework is preferred.
Job Description
Handle correspondence from constituents, drafting responses and providing advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues (housing, immigration, health and social care, etc.) through liaison with national and local government agencies, as well as other relevant organisations.
To show excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence in interacting with people at all levels and in a variety of circumstances. Able to deal with issues in a confidential manner and able to work effectively in a small team.
Manage own caseload and progress of casework, ensuring all cases are dealt with in a sensitive, confidential and timely manner and accurate records are kept in adherence to the principles of the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
Research and draft responses or respond to constituents on any issues raised on behalf of the Member.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation/guidelines as appropriate in dealing with casework.
Liaise with relevant groups within the constituency and communicate appropriately with internal and external contacts.
To liaise with other MP offices, external organisations, and government departments.
To assist in the compilation of briefing packs and writing speeches.
Ensuring that opportunities for additional engagement from casework are identified for the MP.
To work closely with others in a small team to deliver outstanding service to constituents.
To liaise with Department officials, ministers, and other stakeholders, in relation to official positions held by the MP.
