What you'll be doing:

Which? Policy Advisers think strategically to get to the heart of complex issues, recognise and anticipate the policy agenda and develop evidence based solutions that impact the lives of consumers for the better.

Reporting to the Principal Policy Adviser, you'll be a member of the digital policy team responsible for leading at least one area of digital policy and contributing to policy development across the digital and scams space. The role involves horizon scanning, contributing to policy strategy, reviewing regulatory proposals from government, identifying and filling evidence gaps, developing policy positions, writing policy reports and advocating Which? policy positions both internally and with external stakeholders. You will be focused on one or more of our digital workstreams, and will bring digital experience to ensure our digital policy work drives impact for consumers.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a self-starting Policy Adviser with a specialism in Digital. We work on a range of digital issues from Online Consumer Harms, Data Protection, Device Security, Smart Product Lifespan and the rise of the circular economy, to Health Data and Connectivity. We are keen to recruit a candidate with a passion for developing robust, evidence based digital policy, with understanding of the digital regulatory landscape, and the desire to create real change for consumers.

Some of our recent work in digital markets includes demonstrating the scale and harm of fake reviews feeding into an investigation by the Competition Markets Authority, looking at the value of giving consumers greater control over their data, launching #JustNotBuyingIt campaign asking the government to put the right regulations in place to make online platforms take responsibility to protect consumers online, issuing SMS best practice guidance to help businesses protect their customers from scams and campaigning for the inclusion of digital advertising in the online safety bill.
