An excellent opportunity for a talented, ambitious communications professional to join Hume Brophy’s growing London team. We are looking for someone with 1-3 years of agency, in house or parliamentary experience to play an active role on key accounts across a wide range of sectors.

The ideal candidate will be politically astute, keen to build a career in public affairs, and willing to develop their skills in PR, media relations, corporate affairs and crisis communications. Our fully integrated offer requires our consultants to develop an understanding of the different disciplines and how they can contribute to helping our clients achieve their goals.

Person specification

The successful applicant will have a strong desire to build a communications career in a fast-paced agency environment supporting a wide range of integrated public affairs, PR and media relations campaigns, with a significant focus on clients operating in the sectors identified above.

You will have strong written and research skills, a genuine interest in current affairs, an eye for evolving political agendas, a sense of what matters to journalists, and will enjoy speaking to the media to sell in stories as a core component of the role.

An understanding of the individuals and issues driving the day in Westminster is essential.

Core roles and responsibilities

  • Draft communications material including monitoring reports, briefing notes, policy/position papers, messaging documents and other external-facing collateral.
  • Build and maintain awareness of current affairs and key political developments, relevant to Hume Brophy’s business and client objectives.
  • Deliver thorough and timely research to inform client work.
  • Pitch client comment and news stories to trade and national media, and follow up accordingly.
  • Build a network of political and media contacts – you will enjoy being ‘out and about’.
