Job Details

Are you interested in using your policy analysis and communication skills to help ensure our elections are well-run?

The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. It works to promote public confidence in the democratic process and to ensure its integrity.

The role
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic policy professional to contribute to the Electoral Commission’s response to an exciting range of policy challenges.
As a Policy Adviser you will contribute to key areas of the Commission’s policy work, such as reporting on the administration of elections and the impact of significant new legislation, and options for modernising voting. You will also be expected to develop your expertise in a broader range of policy areas relating to electoral administration and regulation, providing support and advice to Commission teams and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate
You will work closely with the Policy Team, as well as colleagues in operational, devolved and English regional teams, as well as press, public affairs and research, ensuring that the Commission’s policy work is informed by operational experience, robust evidence and communicated effectively.

You will have a strong track record of working in policy development and of working with government policy and legislative processes. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work in an environment where close attention to detail and accuracy are critical.

Note: An additional fixed term opportunity at adviser level may be available as part of this recruitment process.

We would like to continuously increase the diversity of our employees. Applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are particularly welcomed.
