The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) is a national charity that aims to make a practical difference in social mobility. We’re looking for a creative and resourceful Campaigns Officer to join our Advocacy and Campaigns team. Much of this role will be dedicated to our campaigning arm Department for Opportunities (DO), but you’ll also support across the charity's work, including working closely with our colleagues who run the Aspiring Professionals Programme and play a critical role in communicating our Social Mobility Employer Index.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about intervening in the national conversation about social mobility. In news headlines and social media trends you will see opportunities to tell a compelling story about social mobility, and the structures that keep many young people held back from thriving in education and the top professions.

You’ll be able to write plainly and authoritatively across different formats for diverse audiences, turn data analysis into emotive messaging, and bring our policy position to life across our owned channels.

No two days will be the same, so you’ll also be excellent at managing your own time, meeting deadlines and delivering on project plans. You will work in an agile way – eager to solve problems and create things that bring our work to life – and bring energy and enthusiasm for campaigning and social mobility to the team.

Your mindset is as important than your previous experience. You’ll see that being skilled in campaigning is about being skilled in communications. It is about the words we use, the values we invoke and our understanding of other people.
