Job Details

Dr Kieran Mullan MP is looking to recruit two Caseworkers to join his team. The location of the role will be determined by the best candidates for the vacancies - ideally one role in Westminster and one in Crewe.

Caseworkers play an important role in supporting the MP, by ensuring that constituents' concerns are heard and actioned.

Successful candidates require can-do attitudes, as well as the ability to work sensitively and empathetically with constituents. 

Key responsibilities:

•Drafting responses to policy casework, in addition to assisting on more complex cases from constituents.
• Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members.
• Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially, in line with the data protection legislation.
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP.
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
• Assist the MP and other team members in the planning and delivery of projects. Recent examples include Cheshire Day and Christmas Card Competitions.
• Other general admin tasks, as required.

• There may be a requirement for you to attend surgeries or meetings on behalf of the MP.
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

Skills and Qualities:

• Previous experience managing a portfolio of work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - the ability to show empathy and patience.
• An ability to take the initiative and work proactively - prioritise tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail, especially in written communications.
• The ability to work in a sensitive and confidential manner at all times.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages.
• Keen political awareness, sympathetic to the Conservative Party values.

Desirable:

• Experience of working with members of the public.
• Knowledge of Crewe and Nantwich.
• Clean driving licence.
