Background

CalComms, a Westminster based political and communications agency, has been selected to establish the secretariat function for a new UK/Greek friendship group, potentially leading to the forming of a Think Tank. This venture is being privately funded by those wishing to see closer ties between the United Kingdom and our Greek friends along the key themes of trade, cultural exchanges and geo-political cooperation.

We are looking for someone to take a lead on this exciting new initiative and establish the Group.

The Role

As Director/Project Lead you will take full operational responsibility for the day to day running of the group. The successful candidate will be expected to execute the agreed strategic direction set by the patrons and work towards meeting the key performance indicators.

Essential requirements key to a successful candidate include:

  • Experience in working within a think tank or other similar political pressure group at a mid-senior managerial level;
  • A keen understanding of politics and ability to develop this further within the Greek / UK dynamic;
  • Event management;
  • Experience of leading and managing a dedicated team;
  • Crowd funding and mass campaigning/third party motivation experience;
  • Website and social media management to an high level.

Desirable experience includes:

  • An understanding of the Greek political environment;
  • Knowledge of the workings of the UK parliament and experience engaging within it;
  • Budgeting and corporate management experience;
  • Public presentational and speaking skills;
  • Knowledge of and contacts with regional and national print and broadcast media in the UK and Greece.

This role would ideally suit someone who has worked extensively in politics and is now ready to take a lead in developing the way for a unique and influential new group aimed at defining Britain's relationships in the world post-Brexit. CalComms is very excited to be working with some hugely enthusiastic and knowledegable patrons and very much look forward to having you join the team.
