Job Title: Caseworker + REMOVED

Working For: Sir Bill Wiggin MP (North Herefordshire)

Location: Leominster, Herefordshire

Salary: In line with IPSA pay scales

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Sir Bill Wiggin MP is looking to recruit a Caseworker to provide high quality administrative support as part of his constituency team. Caseworkers are an important role in an MP’s office and the postholder will provide support to the Member in respect of their constituency duties, with a particular focus on drafting correspondence and responding to enquiries from constituents.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Owing to the nature of work carried out by the Member, particularly, in respect of constituency casework, there will be some exposure to complex casework, with a requirement to support other team members in the handling of casework.

Attention to detail is therefore required along with a confidential and sensitive approach.

While previous experience is helpful, it is by no means essential, and the successful candidate will have full training and the support of the existing team.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

• Responding effectively to correspondence and enquiries from constituents via email, telephone, letter and face-to-face.
• Ensuring that casework is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately.
• Liaising with Government agencies, local government departments, the voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters.
• Drafting correspondence relating to the MP’s Parliamentary and constituency activities.
• Attendance at constituency surgeries, visits or meetings when required.
• Undertaking research in support of the MP’s parliamentary duties as required.
• Ensuring that records are kept and adhere to the Data Protection Act principles.

• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Excellent IT skills.
• Proven organisation, communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience dealing with members of the public.
• Ability to work under own initiative without supervision.
• Good attention to detail and ability to prioritise.

• Competitive salary within IPSA pay scales.
• Generous employer contribution pension scheme.
• 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Closing Date: 20 May 2022
