Job Details

This internship would suit someone with an interest in developing a career in either international development, politics, foreign policy, advocacy or government relations. No prior experience is needed, just lots of passion, energy and a positive attitude. You may be studying a related field (although this is not a requirement) or just be interested in gaining work experience in the sector, either way we would love to hear from you!

This is a full-time 10-week internship, starting on the 13th June until 19th August 2022. Applicants can be based anywhere in the UK as the internship can be completed remotely. There is also the opportunity to travel to Westminster to support our events and work from our co-working space if the intern prefers. Applicants will require access to the internet, a laptop will be provided for the duration of this internship in order to login to our cloud based system remotely.

As part of the UK’s fight against global poverty, our small yet dedicated team works with the policy makers, politicians and journalists to support and promote UK Aid. We organise a number of public and private events with high profile speakers throughout the year. The intern will work closely with our Events Manager to help with a range of responsibilities in an exciting and fast-paced environment in order to effectively assist the team.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to shadow colleagues working across the areas of operations, events, advocacy and communications in order to gain experience and understanding of all areas of our work.

The internship will entail a broad range of tasks and training will be provided on any software that you are required to use. The kinds of tasks you will assist with include:

● Researching event topics and themes

● Drafting speaker briefings

● Supporting our Events Manager with drafting event proposals

● Assisting on ensuring the organisation’s records are accurate and up to date

● Assisting with our internal monitoring and evaluation records

● Conducting desk based research

● Supporting with event logistics

● Drafting content for our social media accounts

● Watching debates on key issues in parliament and taking notes to share with the team

Interviews will be held during the week commencing Monday 30th May and we expect the position to be filled by May for a start date of Monday 13th June 2021
