Job Details

The role predominantly involves dealing with constituency casework and helping with the day to day running of a busy office.

The role includes:

• Drafting letters and correspondence for the Member providing information, advice and support to constituents on a broad range of issues
• Dealing with Government agencies, local councils and other organisations
• Drafting briefings to update constituents and the Member on key issues
• Dealing with telephone enquiries
• Meticulous record keeping and dealing with often confidential or sensitive information
• Attending meetings with the Member and note taking
• Other administrative duties as required

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
• Strong written and oral communication skills, good telephone manner
• Highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise a large caseload
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Quick and efficient work style
• A strong work ethic and a willingness to the be flexible to the demands of a busy office
• Team player; enthusiastic and reliable
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

Previous experience working for an MP or dealing with casework is helpful but not required.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
