Job Title: Public Affairs/Campaigns Assistant

Job Details

This position supports multiple aspects of fast-paced public affairs, including providing political and policy monitoring, intelligence-gathering and participating in meetings.

Main Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

● Provide support for the Public Affairs team and internal stakeholders.
● Provide support for and co-ordination of stakeholder mapping and the production of written newsletters, briefings, and campaign material.
● Assist in the preparation of Public Affairs reports and provide a tracking and monitoring service of key developments in Parliament, government departments, political parties, local government, think tanks and NGOs.
● Assist in the production of weekly political updates for senior management.
● Analyse parliamentary publications and printed transcripts, such as Hansard, and other activities such as debates, parliamentary questions, committee enquiries, statements, reports, regulations and legislation as they are deemed relevant to the chartered professional institute and its membership.
● Assist in maintaining relationships with existing stakeholders and contacts in Parliamentary offices.
● Working with designated external agencies and key contacts within the chartered professional membership and educational body, assist in draft press releases and other publicity activities as they might be required.

Person Specification:

● A strong interest in, and enthusiasm for, politics, policy issues and current affairs.
● A degree in Politics, Government Relations or Public Policy with at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree.
● An interest in the law, accessibility and inclusion issues would be beneficial.
● Excellent research and communication (written and oral) skills.
● A general understanding of campaigning and politics in the UK.
● Ability/experience in preparing documents and PowerPoint presentations succinctly.
● The ability to inspire trust and confidence through demonstrable personal integrity with key contacts, colleagues and members within the chartered professional membership and educational body.
