ERA is a UK trade organisation representing the digital and physical retail sectors of the music, video and videogames industries.

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Government Relations to join our team as a specialist in Public Affairs. This is a brand new role and you will be joining at an exciting time for music streaming and entertainment. You will have the opportunity to shape our Public Affairs strategy and will be responsible for creating, building and maintaining strong relationships with public bodies across Parliament and Whitehall . Our offices are in Covent Garden, with flexible home working as required.

Key functions:

  • Creating and implementing ERA’s Government Relations Agenda
  • Building relations across the policy teams within ERA’s membership
  • Conducting advocacy efforts at all levels of government and policy making
  • Providing input into and leading the implementation of legislative and policy initiatives and strategies related to specific policy objectives, including inter alia:
  • The DCMS Committee Music Streaming inquiry and related CMA Market Scoping
  • Supporting high street retail, in particular the Independent Sector
  • Representing ERA Policy in relation to organisations such as The Independent Retail Consortium, The Alliance for IP, The Industry Trust
  • Establishing rapport with industry associations and trade organisations to ensure representation of ERA’s interests
  • Participating in industry and trade groups to develop and advocate for common industry positions
  • Working with ERA and its members to understand their goals and objectives to ensure that government relations activities are aligned to their businesses
  • Identifying risk to the members from potential changes to the policy and regulatory landscape
  • Developing position papers and discussion guides

Requirements:

  • Degree educated
  • 6 years plus working within government, Parliament or in a policy or public affairs focused role
  • Experience in both developing and delivering a politically focused strategy
  • Strong political relationships
  • Ability to draft clear, engaging and persuasive written briefings and responses to consultations
  • Preferred knowledge of the music, creative industries and the wider entertainment industry
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate clear arguments in political meetings
