Job Title: Campaign and Comms Assistant

Working For: Back Heathrow

Location: London

Salary: £20,000-£25,000

Length of Contract: Initially one year

Job Details

About Back Heathrow
Back Heathrow is a community campaign which supports the survival and future growth of the country’s busiest airport. It is a grassroots campaign of over 100,000 supporters from local communities around the airport.
As a campaign, it seeks to balance the debate on Heathrow’s expansion, giving a voice to local people who want a new runway at Heathrow for the benefit of their communities.
With environmental concerns at the forefront of media and public attention, you’ll be part of a campaign making the case for Heathrow airport, through sustainable growth.

About the role
Working in a small team, based in the campaign office in Chiswick, this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, bright and motivated team player looking for a starter role with a campaign right in the centre of the public eye.
You will support other team members in their day-to-day tasks, including managing the campaign database to ensure that all activity is done with the most up-to-date data on local supporters.
You will be comfortable with all forms of social media (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) and must be able to manage it responsibly using Hootsuite.
Strong computing and video-editing skills will also be a big plus in a fast-paced campaign that frequently requires the team to come up with new and imaginative ways to communicate our message.
As part of the campaign team there is an expectation that you will be available to help with events in local communities. This may involve some evening work.

About you
We would expect you to understand and share Back Heathrow’s goals and the aims of most local communities around the airport – where more residents support than oppose a new runway.
You will have demonstrable experience of campaigning activities and you will be:
• Knowledgeable about local and national politics and the issues surrounding Heathrow expansion
• IT literate, with good social media skills. Experience of using NationBuilder would be a bonus
• Possess excellent writing and presentation skills
• Able to work within a small team, both to meet individual deadlines as well as ‘mucking in’ on larger projects with other team members.

Closing Date: 10 June 2022
