Robert Largan MP is looking for a constituency caseworker and communications officer to join his busy team based in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. Previous casework experience is an advantage but not necessary.

The applicant will be expected to deal directly, both face-to-face and on the telephone, with members of the public, some of whom may be distressed or disadvantaged; a calm and reassuring demeanour is therefore essential.

The applicant should be organised, self-motivated and able to handle a potentially large caseload efficiently and effectively. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, and a good knowledge of IT and the Microsoft Office suite would be helpful.

The applicant will be expected to monitor local media outlets and raise local issues with the MP, as well as drafting press releases about what the MP is doing for the area. Previous experience of media monitoring, writing press releases and dealing with local media would therefore be an advantage.

Some weekend or evening work is required, accompanying Robert at his regular advice surgeries.

Candidates should be sympathetic to the general aims and values of the Conservative Party.
