 Purpose

Grayling is looking to recruit a new Associate Director to work within our public affairs division on a number of flagship client accounts, including for some of the country’s most recognisable organisations (A full list of our clients can be found on the PRCA Public Affairs register). Our client base covers a broad range of sectors including hospitality, transport, energy and financial services. Grayling has a prestigious public affairs practice and was named Public Affairs Consultancy of the Year at the PRCA Awards 2021.

The role will require excellent political knowledge and judgement, an understanding of parliamentary process and procedure, an eye for detail, excellent written English, good judgement and a proactive mind set. This will be a client-facing role, so the successful candidate must also have a proven track record of advising senior executives, politicians, or decision-makers in previous roles. In addition to this, you’ll provide strategic and leadership support to the Head of PA, along with leading on business development initiatives.

Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic counsel to clients
  • Develop crisis management techniques and advises clients on potential courses of action
  • Monitor both political and industry trends to develop and deliver in-depth strategic solutions to exceed client expectations
  • Play a key role in new business, developing opportunities to secure commercial growth for the division and the wider business
  • Assist with business planning for the PA team, through the analysis and evaluation of opportunities, risks and threats
  • Leads, motivates and develops account teams, always celebrating successes and leading by example
  • Develops and maintains a wide network of business contacts
  • Continually develops own professional competencies and political knowledge to ensure skills and experience remain ahead of the curve, sharing this knowledge with others to enhance their development
