Job Details

About NSPCC

The NSPCC exists to prevent cruelty to children. We are looking for an Associate Head of Research and Evidence to join and help lead a team of researchers seeking to advance NSPCC's understanding, and the evidence base, around preventing child abuse and supporting children who have experienced it.

Research helps us to understand the impact we have in our work with children, families, and communities, how we can improve that work, and enables us to understand the needs, wants and experiences of the children and families we seek to support.

The post holder will lead a programme of research and evaluation activity across the NSPCC, as well as additional research projects, and will ensure rigorous research activity via the NSPCC Research Ethics Committee and involvement in cross-organisation boards and committees.

About you

Our ideal candidate is a dynamic, enthusiastic, and experienced research professional with a track record of leading research teams and portfolios - always with the rights, needs and interests of children at the heart of your work. A strategic thinker, you will be a passionate advocate for evidence-based practice and decision-making, and the prevention of child abuse and neglect. You are an excellent communicator and effective network builder, with strong people and project management skills, and enjoy leading teams working on a range of research projects.

Working arrangements

We are happy to consider flexible working where possible. The location is flexible, except for a minimum of one day per week based at the NSPCC Office in Shoreditch, London.

We are committed to play our part in creating and fostering a society that promotes mutual respect and that truly values diversity. All our candidates are considered fairly based on their merit, competence and performance, with all applications anonymised.

For more information about the role please contact Susan Cooke, Head of Research and Evidence: susan.cooke@nspcc.org.uk or the current Associate Head of Research and Evidence, Pam Miller: pam.miller@nspcc.org.uk

Closing Date: 26 June 2022

Interview/Start Dates

First round interviews for the post (one values-based, one knowledge/skills-based) will be held on Friday, July 8 at the NSPCC Head Office.
