FSB is seeking an experienced policy professional with a rich understanding of UK small business policy, with experience and working knowledge of local government and public procurement

This is an interesting and varied role. As a key member of FSB’s lobbying team, the successful candidate will:

Take responsibility and be the lead point of contact for work relating to local government and public procurement. However, this role will not be limited to these policy areas, as we must provide an increasingly holistic approach to small business policy development.

In this role, you will assume responsibility for developing FSB’s policy position on several varied high-profile areas, such as levelling up, business rates, local devolution, UK Shared Prosperity Fund, procurement and related small business issues.

The post holder will be a lead point of contact for relevant policy work emanating from BEIS, DLUHC, Cabinet Office and other relevant departments and agencies. Working closely with other policy leads particularly those in devolved nations, and colleagues covering tax.

Maintaining a keen awareness of political and legislative developments in the UK, and identifying their impact on small businesses, proactively in responding to these developments as appropriate.

FSB is the UK’s leading business organisation with an unparalleled voice to those in power. You will have the opportunity to undertake primary research and develop published policy reports to be used across the FSB network. As the successful candidate, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with small business members and external stakeholders, including MPs, civil servants and small business owners from across the UK. In addition to this, you’ll be working with FSB’s policy, public affairs, EU and media teams, as well as FSB’s local regional and devolved teams.
