Opportunity to work as a Parliamentary Researcher for an active, high-profile Conservative MP in Westminster office. Candidates need to be well-organised, enthusiastic and committed.

Experience of working in Parliament required, other than for exceptional individuals. Should be sympathetic to the aims of the Conservative Party.

 The successful candidate will be:

• An effective and skilled verbal and written communicator
• Experienced in producing and managing online content, particularly video editing, social media management and working with Bluetree
• Capable and competent using Mailchimp and CaseWorker
• Punctual, resilient and capable of dealing with large workloads and an ever-changing environment
• Able to work to tight deadlines
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of local government and operations

Responsibilities will include:

• Drafting and sending correspondence to constituents/third parties on a wide range of issues
• Ensure records managed confidentially in line with the Data Protection Act
• Liaising with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others to resolve constituency matters • Undertaking research and prepare briefings on local, national and international Issues
• Tabling parliamentary questions and monitoring legislative agenda • Represent the Member at meetings when he is not available
• Helping to organise community engagement projects such as Jobs’ Fairs and Pensioners’ Fairs
• Assist with speech writing
• Build and manage relations with local organisations, residents, businesses, authorities and elected officials
• Responsible for press, including press releases and assisting the Member to write feature pieces
• Develop and maintain relations with journalists across all levels and media

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
