Job Details

In this exciting new post, you will play a pivotal role in the Engagement and Insight Directorate in a year where we renew our organisation wide strategy and our Policy Directions to Government.

As the Senior Government Relations Manager, you will work within the Engagement team for The National Lottery Community Fund, working in a team that covers public affairs, government relations, policy and stakeholder engagement.

The right person for this role will have excellent leadership skills and the ability to develop a positive team culture where team members develop and thrive. Importantly you will be curious about the society we live in and passionate about the vital role of charities and voluntary organisations in helping communities to thrive.

You will identify opportunities for The National Lottery Community Fund to engage with Government on policy development – including leading on government consultations - to help share the Fund’s insight, expertise and knowledge. You will grow government’s understanding on the crucial role civil society, volunteering and charities play in supporting communities to be resilient and thrive and feed insight from Government and public policy priorities back into the Fund and help us understand how they might impact us as an organisation or the communities we fund.

We need someone with a common-sense approach and superb attention to detail, ideally with experience within the charity sector or Government. You need to be good with tight deadlines, be able to work well and confidently with colleagues, especially at a senior level, and produce high quality written work at pace.

You will support the Deputy Director of Engagement and Insight in working with our sponsor team within Government, within DCMS, working closely with Civil Servants on leading activity like renewing our Policy Directions.

The Senior Government Affairs Manager will also play a key role in forward planning with the Chief Executive’s Office and the UK Chair to maximise opportunities for engagement with government stakeholders. This includes activity such as providing briefings for meetings with Ministers.
