Job Details

Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, is looking for an experienced Executive Assistant for his Westminster office. You will work very closely with Chris to help him represent his constituents to the highest standards in Parliament. This is an exciting opportunity to make an important contribution to a very busy office at a significant time in British politics.

You will be responsible for managing the inbox and fast-moving diary in Parliament (including commitments in the Chamber, on the Transport Select Committee, and the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme) as well as contributing to projects and handling external communications.

Essential:

  • Significant experience working with senior executives in high-pressure settings.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extremely well organised with a very keen eye for detail.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Outlook and Word.

Desirable:

  • Experience with external communications including social media.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of external stakeholders.
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide executive support to Chris and associated interest groups as required.
  • Manage a fast-moving diary.
  • Coordinate meetings with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Manage the inbox and personal emails and correspondence.
  • Produce briefings for meetings and speeches.
  • Assist with external communications, including updating social media and online content.
  • Resource and project management.
  • Take minutes and produce meeting notes.
  • Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with the data protection legislation.

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
