Job Details

Due to the incumbent moving into a leading public affairs consultancy, a vacancy has emerged to be the Head of Office for Andrew Griffith MP.

You will work closely with Andrew to deliver his priorities for his constituents by coordinating across his Westminster and constituency teams.

The ideal candidate will be organised, motivated, confident in acting on their own initiative, comfortable in leading a small team, able to prioritise a busy workload, and able to demonstrate good judgement.

Main responsibilities
•Overall responsibility for effective office performance in providing high quality, efficient & effective support
•Horizon-scanning, anticipate what advice/action may be required; proactively identify and resolve problems
•Manage teams' projects & workflows
•Liaise with Andrew’s No10 team to ensure effective coordination between his ministerial and parliamentary duties
•Have final signoff on relevant delegated areas
•Deal with security matters, keep abreast of security guidance, maintain the security system, liaise with external bodies
•Liaise with groups within the constituency and the public on the MP’s behalf
•Manage aspects of social media, the website and online newsletters
•Plan communications and external stakeholder engagement and provide strategic advice on constituent matters
•Responsibility for budget management, regularly keeping the MP informed of all relevant financial matters through rigorous financial planning

There may be requirement to work outside of the normal working hours, including attending events with the MP.

Attributes sought

•Highly organised with the ability to create and to supervise processes around diary management, correspondence and meetings
•Confidence and the necessary personal impact to lead, motivate & develop a small team
•Previous experience either in Parliament as office manager or running an office team in the private sector
•Excellent written and verbal skills and attention to detail
•Ability to work independently, prioritise a heavy workload, work under pressure in a fast-moving environment
•Ability to work in a sensitive & confidential way at all times
•A supporter of traditional Conservative values and beliefs

A West Sussex knowledge or connection would be a bonus although not a requirement.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and an appointment may be made before the closing date if the right candidate is found.

The start date would ideally be no later than late August/early September in order to facilitate a handover from the outgoing incumbent.
