Job Title: Mayor & Cabinet Support Manager

Working For: London Borough of Hackney

Location: London

Salary: £41,346 to £43,356 p.a.

Length of Contract: Six months

Job Details

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

Philip Glanville, the directly elected Mayor of Hackney, was re-elected in May 2022 to serve his second full term. As Mayor & Cabinet Support Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of five officers, ensuring high quality executive support to the Mayor and his Cabinet. You will also be responsible for managing the Mayor’s diary and inbox, co–ordinate briefings, act as a key interface between the Mayor and internal and external stakeholders, and provide high level support and advice.

This is a wide ranging and challenging role that will liaise closely with the Mayor and Cabinet, senior officers and their teams, and operate in a politically sensitive environment.

You will need to be a highly motivated, proactive individual with strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work with members and officers across all parts of the organisation. Experience of working under pressure in a political environment and at a high level is desirable. You must have experience in independently carrying out duties effectively. The role is being offered as a six month contract or secondment opportunity.

If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values so we achieve the best for our residents, please apply.

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

Closing Date: 26 June 2022
