Job Details

Plaid Cymru’s Westminster team is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join their team of advisors in Westminster. You will play a central role in assisting Plaid Cymru’s MPs with their parliamentary duties. This exciting opportunity will give you the chance to work with a dedicated and passionate team of MPs and staff at the heart of Welsh and UK politics.
Please note that the salary is likely to be at the lower end of the IPSA pay range.

Responsibilities
• To identify opportunities to maximise the parliamentary impact of Plaid Cymru
• To assist MPs and staff with procedures relating to participation in debates, coverage in the chamber and monitoring of divisions
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard and debates
• Assist with the writing of speeches, comment pieces and press releases
• Ensure the Members are fully briefed on potential questions and motions to be put to the House
• Prepare and present briefing notes for committees, question times and media appearances
• Support constituency caseworkers as required
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries

Ideal candidate
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
• Experience of working in politics, communications, or similar field
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of Plaid Cymru
• A willingness to work flexibly in order to meet the requirements of the role
• An understanding of Welsh affairs and UK politics
• Fluency in Welsh desirable
