Job Title: Political Advisor to Bridget Phillipson MP, Shadow Education Secretary

Salary: £42,431.75 (gross) per annum inclusive of London Weighting. There is the ability to progress to £44,314.04 over the next 1 year.

Length of Contract: A fixed term contract for the duration that Bridget Phillipson is Shadow Secretary of State for Education to a maximum of 2 years.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Political Advisor (Media and Communications) to Bridget Phillipson, Shadow Secretary of State for Education as part of the Leader’s Office for the Official Opposition. Supporting the Shadow Secretary of State for Education, their frontbench team and the Leader of the Labour Party to promote the strategic goals of the Labour Party.

The role involves providing media and communications support to the Shadow Cabinet Member and their frontbench team to promote the strategic goals of the Labour Party, including working with the Labour Party Press Office to promote Labour’s political and policy agenda in national and regional media. It will also involve providing general support to the Shadow Cabinet member in the execution of her duties in Parliament and beyond.

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of the media and political environment, knowledge of the Labour Party and its structures, knowledge of the parliamentary process, excellent organisational skills, experience of preparing written and verbal briefing materials and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
