We are looking for a talented individual to provide strategic advice and support to our Cabinet Members and Opposition Leaders on the implementation of manifesto commitments, major policies, and objectives.

Our Principal Members Support Officers must be able to shape strategic policy development and support implementation in a large and complex organisation. Experience working in local government would be an advantage as the post holders will work primarily to support the elected representatives in delivering services to meet our residents’ needs. You must be organised, flexible and have significant experience delivering high quality research and advice to senior decision makers.

We are looking to recruit one full time position of 37 hours per week, but we are happy to consider applications from suitable candidates who are looking for part time hours.

This is an office-based role, at the Guildhall in Hull. Although some limited home/remote working may be possible, the successful candidate will be expected to work at our offices in the Guildhall in accordance with the requirements of the elected members they support.

The role of Principal Members Support Officer is designated as politically sensitive under the Council's Constitution in accordance with the provisions of The Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
