Job Details

Darren Jones MP has two paid annual internships - one in Westminster and one in Bristol.

The Parliamentary Intern works with the Parliamentary Assistant to assist the MP with his diary, his work with All Party Parliamentary Groups, other special projects and general support for the Westminster office.

In particular, the Parliamentary Intern will assist the MP with his technology policy work. The role holder will liaise with international legislator’s offices, and multi-lateral organisations such as the UN, WEF, OECD and others, to arrange online meetings with the MP, in addition to preparing briefing materials for and taking part in such meetings.

The Parliamentary Intern will also assist the MP in his work with the Technology APPG (‘Pictfor’), the Data Poverty APPG and the Technology and National Security APPG, all of which are chaired by Darren.

Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent research, writing and organisation skills.

Applicants must have an interest or background in technology policy.

This role would ideally suit a masters level student with sufficient time for a minimum of 12 hours each week. Funding is available for up to 20 hours each week.

The internship runs from September 2022 until August 2023.

You will be given a parliamentary laptop, headset, keyboard and mouse and will be able to work remotely and from the Westminster office.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
