Job Title: Senior Policy Advocacy Officer - Tuberculosis

Working For: RESULTS UK

Location: London

Salary: £34,071

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

Someone dies of Tuberculosis (TB) every 20 seconds. The world’s failure to adequately address TB and other diseases of poverty is due in large part to a lack of political will. There is therefore an urgent need to scale up advocacy to demand greater leadership and accountability on TB. RESULTS UK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Policy Advocacy Officer to lead our work on TB.

The Senior Policy Advocacy Officer (TB) will be a key part of our Policy Advocacy Team. Reporting to the Head of Policy Advocacy, the post-holder will take responsibility for being an issue-area expert on Tuberculosis and share responsibility with other Policy Officers for some other related development issues, including: Health System Strengthening, Sustainability and Donor Transition, Universal Health Coverage, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Equally important is a proven ability to quickly gain an understanding of a complex new policy area and translate it into succinct, clear, relevant and achievable recommendations. Specific knowledge of health - particularly TB - would be useful, but not essential.

As a member of the Policy Team, the post-holder will also be working closely with members of the Parliamentary and Grassroots Team in order to deliver on RESULT UK’s overarching objectives, being generous with the sharing of knowledge, advocacy expertise, and contacts. Working in a collaborative way is vital to this role.

Globally, they will work strategically as part of the ACTION Global Health Advocacy Partnership to mobilise greater resources and political commitment for the control of TB. The ACTION network seeks to address and reverse the global TB problem through implementing cutting edge, results based advocacy and communication strategies.

RESULTS UK has a long and successful history of providing policy input to decision makers in institutions in international development. We are a strong policy voice within our sector, influencing and supporting other civil society organisations. This role provides excellent opportunities for leading policy advocacy, working closely with parliamentary and grassroots advocates, and deepening an understanding of global health and TB.
