Job Title: Embracing Complexity Lead

Working For: Autistica

Location: London

Salary: £36,000

Length of Contract: 18 months with the possibility of extension

Job Details

Embracing Complexity is a coalition of over 60 organisations supporting people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, autism, developmental language disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia, learning disability and Tourette Syndrome amongst many others. Thanks to the generous support of The Waterloo Foundation, we are looking for a pro-active, results-oriented individual to lead the day-to-day running of the coalition. Embracing Complexity has become a hub for conversation and collaboration across members, and it is an exciting time to take over the role as we move towards driving forward the emerging evidence base around neurodiversity beyond diagnostic labels.

Embracing Complexity is managed by Autistica and this role will also involve supporting our research and policy teams, particularly with the delivery of our 2030 Goals. You will fit in well at Autistica if you are passionate about enabling high performance and you value working with a team who think in diverse ways.

Key responsibilities

Co-ordinating Embracing Complexity projects

▪ Diagnosis – Work with member organisations to explore ways to improve the diagnostic process, particularly for people with more than one condition.

▪ Services – Co-ordinate a range of projects focusing on the priorities of member organisations and Autistica’s 2030 Goals, including reducing the employment gap and making public spaces more accessible to neurodivergent people.

▪ Research – Develop and partner on proposals to support research infrastructure and build the trans-diagnostic evidence base for supporting neurodivergent people.

Managing the coalition

▪ Member engagement – Manage relationships with Embracing Complexity’s member organisations, seeking their priorities and feedback through regular meetings and other exercises, and maintain the members’ newsletter.

▪ Public communications – Co-ordinate webinars highlighting emerging research, and maintain Embracing Complexity’s website and social media.

Other

▪ Support other teams – Assist Autistica’s research, policy, comms and fundraising teams as required, particularly with the delivery of the 2030 Goals.
