Job Title: Policy/R&D Delivery Manager

Responsibilities

Manage the delivery of high-value client R&D/ Policy projects.

Manage delivery across several R&D/ Policy projects with cross-functional teams that include consultancy, technology, training, and innovation expertise. You will ensure that projects are delivered to agreed goals, on time and on budget.

Manage budgets, invoicing, and reforecasting for the R&D and policy disciplines.

Undertake financial tracking, budgeting and forecasting at a project and programme level.

Oversee the effective management of procurement and contracting, including contracts for freelancers. Liaise with the resourcing team to manage team workloads.

Focus on the quality of output and how the work we do best reflects the values of the ODI.

Develop and maintain collaborative and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and engagement.

Clear monitoring and reporting to clients and the ODI Board (monthly, quarterly and annually), including programme level deliverables and KPIs and work with the finance team to comply with any relevant auditing activities.

Monitoring effectiveness across the project workstreams and providing administrative support where necessary.

Actively participate in continuous improvement activities, e.g. retrospectives and delivery manager team meetings.

Organise project/team meetings and take notes, following up on actions in order to help prepare the agenda for the next project/team meeting.

Support with calendar management for the R&D and Policy teams.

Skills

Essential

Experience of either working in a research/policy environment or conducting research yourself.

A high degree of financial literacy and comfort in managing project budgets.

Good understanding of and experience with project planning software and a range of cloud-based technologies.

Ability to multi-task and move quickly between projects through effective prioritisation and balancing competing priorities.

Experience of delivering projects (ideally technology/data ones) end-to-end, on time, on budget and to a high quality.

Organised and with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to apply a diversity and inclusion lens and approach to work.
