About us

The work of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) affects every person in the UK. Our regulatory role impacts how healthcare can innovate to help you live longer, how social media firms select the content you see and how police can use technology to reduce crime. We oversee how you can access information about how your taxes are spent, or about how a company is using your data.

In July 2022 we launch our new strategic plan, ICO25, which you can read here. Our work is interesting, immensely rewarding and increasingly in the public eye.

About the role

The ICO holds a unique position as a regulator across the whole of the private, public and third sectors. Communications Business Partners (CBPs) serve as the strategic communications lead for our services, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination between Corporate Communications and the wider organisation.

These are strategic roles with a focus on objectives, audiences and communicating for impact – looking beyond individual outputs to build campaigns and help us unearth compelling stories that consistently demonstrate the value of our work.

CBPs lead on short and long-term planning, ensuring our messaging, products, announcements, speeches and events are strategic and seamlessly delivered.

They ensure all our communications activity supports the delivery of our communications strategy and adapts to the evolving bigger picture, providing high-quality communications advice, challenge and support to our Executive Team, Directors and senior managers, and teams across the ICO.
