Directly responsible to: Head of Business Services
Location: Office of the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Lloyd House,
Birmingham City Centre, plus some home-working.
This is a politically restricted post.
This new post will provide important support to the Police and Crime Commissioner in assessing police custody arrangements and the outcomes for those detained, and developing policy related to police custody.
The role provides an opportunity for a highly organised person to develop and manage our custody visiting and appropriate schemes. Working with minimal supervision, you will have the skills to manage a wide base of volunteers and be the leader for these schemes, as well as providing scrutiny and analysis of police custody, to brief the Commissioner and colleagues, and help to develop policy to deliver real improvements for those in police custody.
If you have a strong interest in policing, policy and social justice, and also have strong organisational and administrative skills, this could be the perfect role for you. you will need to have strong communication skills with the ability to develop relationships at all levels. You will also need energy and enthusiasm to maintain volunteer motivation and commitment.
