Job Details

 Conor is looking to recruit a full-time caseworker to be based in his St Helens North constituency. You will work closely with Conor as part of his team to assist his constituents with their queries or issues

You will often be the first point of contact that members of the public have with Conors office.

Part time will be considered.

Key responsibilities:
Deal with enquiries from the public, taking appropriate action to document, resolve, or escalate concerns/enquiries
Research and draft responses or respond to constituents on issues raised
Manage and appropriately document and progress cases
Liaise with government agencies, council members and staff, businesses, and other agencies to resolve constituents problems
Ensure cases are dealt with in a confidential and sensitive manner and ensure records of contact are kept in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation
Arranging and accompanying MP to surgeries, and local meetings as required
Getting to know and understand local issues, so that this knowledge is reflected in case handling
You will also be required to undertake other administrative and office tasks.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

Person Specification

The ability to empathise with constituents and communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to identify constituents’ issues, investigate and respond appropriately
Clear and concise writing style
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Sympathetic to the ideals of the Labour Party
Experience of working and dealing with the general public
Experience of meeting and assisting individuals from diverse backgrounds
Competent use of IT including full proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and the internet
Experience of a casework management system or similar database would be an advantage
Holding a driving licence and having access to a vehicle would be desirable
A desire to provide a high-quality service to constituents
A keen willingness to learn

We would be seeking to interview as soon as possible following the closing date, with a start date mutually agreed but preferably within a short timescale.
But, Conor is seeking to appoint as soon as possible, so candidates will be considered on a rolling basis, and early applications are welcome
