Job Title: Press and Communications Coordinator

Job Details

Duties and Responsiblities:

Press Engagement

• Write and issue press releases that reflect WIPs core values and messaging.
• Ensure timely and adequate responses to media enquiries and maintain the media contacts database.
• Develop collaborative relationships with journalists and media professionals to secure quality coverage regarding women affected by the criminal justice system and to support WIP’s strategy.
• Lead on the logistics of setting up interviews, filming or recording ensuring that any coverage is conducted sensitively, appropriately and in line with WIP’s key messages and values.
• Provide media briefings and support for staff or the women we support, when required for media opportunities.

Communications

• Develop integrated communications strategies with the Head of Campaigns and Public Affairs to raise WIP’s profile and secure our campaign objectives
• Understanding the value of WIPs Website for furthering the aims and objectives of the organisation and ensure WIP’s website content is up-to-date and accessible
• Coordinate WIP’s social media strategy and outputs
• Develop engaging, accessible and interesting content for WIP’s social media platforms, ensuring they are kept active and reflect our key messages and values.

Personal/Professional Development

• Attend and prepare for regular line management meetings, including performance development reviews (PDRs) as well as Campaign team meetings.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of developments in digital communications, relevant public policy and issues impacting women in contact by the criminal justice system.

General Responsibilities

• Be flexible and carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the position.
• Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professional development.
