Job Details

Saferworld is an independent international organisation that works to prevent and reduce violent conflict and promote co-operative approaches to security.

Saferworld recognises that salaried opportunities are limited, particularly in the non-governmental sector, without work experience. Our fundraising internship offers the opportunity for individuals to gain excellent work experience, considerably increasing employment potential, while helping Saferworld to achieve its organisational aims and objectives.

This internship will work to support the delivery of key fundraising objectives. Saferworld’s funding base has grown significantly over the last few years, with the majority of funds coming from institutional donors, this role will support the organisation’s work towards sustaining and diversifying the funding base through researching and identifying new funding opportunities, alongside maintaining systems to capture critical funding information that supports our planning and budgeting processes.

The Fundraising Intern plays a critical role in ensuring that the wider fundraising team and organisation are aware of new and upcoming funding opportunities.  As an intern, you will provide coordination and general support to fundraising colleagues as required. You will work towards setting and achieving fundraising targets with the Programme Development Manager and the Fundraising Leadership Team.

This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience of Saferworld’s work and of its fundraising streams. It will be of particular interest to someone wanting to gain knowledge of and experience supporting programme design and fundraising from institutional donors, as well as trusts and foundations.

The person we are looking for will have a degree or relevant experience (including in a volunteer role) in the third sector. Experience of researching and identifying funding opportunities within the international development sector is desirable.

You will have excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines and the ability to negotiate and understand priorities of colleagues, applying a problem-solving supportive approach. Analytical ability to identify synergies between donor funding priorities and Saferworld funding needs would be an added advantage.
