The Opportunity
We are delighted to have partnered The British Psychological Society who are looking for a new Media Officer to join the Communications and Engagement Directorate. Reportng to the Communications Manager, the Media Officer will work on developing the organisation’s proactive & reactive media outreach. This is an excellent opportunity for any creative media officer who would like to develop their skills across a press function.

Responsibilities
Assist on developing media strategy for the society and lead on its delivery – taking a proactive approach to gather impactful stories and work with all areas of the organisation to identify and generate newsworthy media opportunities.
Take responsibility for horizon-scanning across the sector to identify proactive media opportunities.
Provide written and verbal briefings for senior staff and members, as well as prepare spokespeople for media opportunities.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with journalists.

Requirements
Proven track record of writing engaging copy that secures media coverage at trade, regional and national level.
Experience of writing in a range of formats including: articles, blogs, opinion pieces, media pitches, quotes, statements and briefings.
Experience of building relationships with journalists.
Experience of providing media training.
