This post is an exciting opportunity to join the staff team of the Council of Deans of Health, the representative body for the UK’s university faculties engaged in education and research for nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions. The Council is actively promoting anti-racism across its policy work and internal processes and is committed to creating a work environment that is inclusive and welcoming for everyone.

The post-holder will join the Council’s team to manage some of our communications and engagement in the organisation, including our Race Equity Month and Research Month campaigns. The role will involve engaging with members and external stakeholders across the health and higher education sector, organising events, supporting the delivery of communications projects, and developing resources. We are looking for someone with a strong record in campaigns, communications, and engagement. You will be fast-working, creative, focused, and enjoy working with a wide range of people.

Main responsibilities

Leading the Council’s external communications:

  • Preparing our weekly member bulletin
  • Running our social media platforms (LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • Updating the Council’s website, drafting copy, and ensuring it’s relevant and up to date
  • Designing and producing publications
  • Be a point of contact for media enquiries and working with the wider organisation to ensure a quick response
  • Work with the policy team to write news and press releases, when required
  • Analysing the effectiveness of communications and adapt strategy to ensure it remains appropriate and effective

Developing and implementing communications plans including:

  • Running any communications and engagement activities for the Student Leadership Programme
  • Working with the wider team to support any communications outputs for externally funded projects

Develop campaigns, themed “months”, and support the promotion of events, including:

  • Managing and producing content for Race Equity Month and Research Month, and any additional campaigns that the organisation is considering
  • Planning communications to promote in person and online events
  • Managing social media at live events
