Job Details

UK Finance plays a key role in establishing the strategic direction of the UK payments industry. Handling initiatives such as the development of new ways to pay through the New Payments Architecture, Open Banking and Central Bank Digital Currencies while supporting the wider enhancement of digital innovation through projects helping to create a reliable digital ID environment for financial services and ensuring continued compliance with data protection regulation. The role of the Payments and Digital Innovation Intern will be to provide secretariat support and contribute to policy development to support these agendas including:

• Open Banking:
o Supporting UK Finance’s engagement with the Joint Regulatory Oversight Committee as it establishes the right structure for the future of the Open Banking Implementation Entity.
o The successful applicant will support the UK Finance team to deliver content and manage member meetings in order to provide an industry view for the future of Open Banking.
o During this role, the successful applicant will gain an understanding of the technical requirements of Open Banking, understand the wider policy objectives of other Open Data proposals (such as BEIS’ Smart Data proposals and the FCA’s Open Finance initiative).
• Central Bank Digital Currencies:
o Support our New Digital Assets and Money Steering Group and sub-groups through organizing meetings, taking meeting notes and providing analysis to further member policy development.
o Engage with internal colleagues to arrange briefings and provide the means to co-ordinate across departments on a cross-cutting issue.
o Support policy engagement with regulators including the Bank of England, HM Treasury, the PSR and the FCA.
• Digital Identity:
o Support engagement with senior industry contacts and government to articulate the opportunity for digital identity infrastructure within financial services.
o Review and produce summaries of government regulation providing the framework within which digital identity frameworks can be implemented.
