Job Details

Following seven years in Parliament, The Rt. Hon. Ranil Jayawardena MP welcomes applications to identify an experienced, organised and enthusiastic self-starter to fulfil the role of Researcher in his Westminster office. The successful applicant may have a background working in Parliament or public policy, a strong work ethic and demonstrate a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks as a team player.

The role will start as soon as the candidate is available.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project Work
  • Project Management
  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
  • Give advice on policy issues
  • Assist with casework as required
  • Progress casework as required
  • Assist in writing external communications for the MP
  • Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate
  • Maintain positive on-going relationships with all parties including members of the public, groups, suppliers and Westminster where required
  • Diary Management
  • Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
  • Engage confidentially, professionally, with care and integrity with members of the public, through telephone enquiries, social media, email and face to face
  • Any other duties as required to support the Parliamentary Office

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
