Job Title: Research Manager

Job Details

The Commission will interrogate the implications of the Brexit agreements on the UK economy, trade, business, culture, defence and other sectors. It will consider the impact of both the TCA and Protocol on Northern Ireland. It will make recommendations for the review of the TCA scheduled for 2026.

The post holder will:

• Manage the research programme of the Commission
• Facilitate engagement with evidence providers
• Produce briengs for internal and external audiences, including the general public, media, politi- cians and international audiences
• Work closely with the Director, co-chairs, members and advisors

Key responsibilities:

· Support the Director in designing and implementing the research strategy
· Liaise with external stakeholders including MPs, Lords, regional politicians, business and industry leaders, academics and European bodies inc the Parliament and Commission
· Provide administrative and logistical support
· Research evidence from UK economy, society and politics and from Europe
· Media engagement inc press releases
· Manage social media accounts and emails
· Other tasks as required

Person specification:

• Degree level or higher in a relevant discipline
• Experience in current affairs and understanding of the political context, Brexit and its outcomes
• Experience of representation and communications with evidence of influencing policy makers
• Experience in policy, advocacy or public affairs
• Experience establishing effective relationships with decision makers and opinion formers
• Significant experience of managing projects, including working successfully and independently to objectives and deadlines
• Ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Sheets
• Experience working with research institutions, consultants and the media (desirable)
