About the job

Within the Arts SU, the Arts Programme Team work hard to deliver professional development opportunities, such as talks, workshops, events and exhibitions for students to enhance their professional creative practice.

Our aim is to support students in managing their own learning and growth throughout their time studying at UAL and beyond. This can be in the form of: understanding the basic principles of becoming a professional creative, increasing their confidence, developing their networking skills, keeping their knowledge and skillset current, and helping them to achieve your career goals.

The role of Student Exhibitions Coordinator will manage the Arts SU’s exhibition spaces across the UAL sites. The Arts SU provides a safe, supportive environment to allow students to learn and develop their professional practice, and these gallery and project spaces located in the colleges of UAL are a platform to allow us to do that. These are free spaces available to all current students to learn, experiment, collaborate, create, host or curate a project.

This role will develop a professional development series to support students' knowledge of exhibition and event management. The role will also include developing a strategy to promote these exhibition spaces, create a programme of rotating exhibitions, as well as supporting the students in the installation and delivery of the exhibitions. The Arts Programme team also collaborate with and support our Sabbatical Officers to create exhibitions based on liberation history, celebrations and learnings, which this role would take the lead on.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for friendly, motivated and hardworking people to expand our Arts Programme team.

As part of the Arts Programme team we look for people who are:

• thoughtful, trustworthy and reliable

• work independently and as part of a team

• a positive ‘can do’ approach

• a genuine enthusiasm in supporting and mentoring students

• previous experience in delivering events and exhibitions

The right candidate will not only deliver the student exhibition programme but will also feed into our strategy and operational plans. As a team we encourage the constant reviewing and developing of our policies and practices to ensure we are always working towards best practices.
