About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-award-winning communications team and gain experience in a varied role at the cutting edge of the housing and care sector.

You will lead on Public Affairs activity, developing and implementing a Public Affairs plan in line with the Communications & Marketing strategy, to support the delivery and achievement of Anchor’s vision and strategic goals. Managing Public Affairs agency support, you will identify political and sector stakeholders and manage relationships with them in order to achieve our policy objectives.

An important part of this role will be to manage enquiries from MPs about issues relating to locations in their constituencies, lobby for policy change that affects the housing and social care sectors and represent Anchor at party conferences, industry events and with other sector organisations

You will write briefings and position statements and papers on issues of importance to Anchor and its residents and be responsible for, and passionate about, the delivery of highly effective Public Affairs service.

You will need to understand consumer public relations and ensure public affairs activity dovetails and supports wider external communications activity and will report to the Head of External Communications.

About you

You will be educated to Degree level or equivalent through relevant training and/or experience and evidence of continued professional development. You will have experience of Public Affairs or related communications functions. You will also have a good understanding of the political landscape and the structure of national and local government.

You will have awareness of the latest Public Affairs trends, alongside strong skills in negotiation and persuasion. You will be an organised and independent individual who must be able to manage their own workload and keeping key stakeholders up to date as needed and be able to prioritise and manage multiple projects, issues and stakeholders at any one time.
