Job Title: Senior Research Fellow

Working For: Institute for Public Policy Research - IPPR

Location: London

Salary: £42,621 - £52,615 per annum

Length of Contract: 12 Months

Job Details

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), the UK’s leading progressive think tank, is looking to recruit a Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Head of Commission to join our Work and Welfare State Team.

The role will work on IPPR’s Commission on Health and Prosperity. This landmark initiative is supported by commissioners from across political parties, trade unions, business groups, civil society and charities.

The role will work closely with the head of the commission across all research themes – and on the final report of the commission. It will also lead the commission’s work on developing a health-led vision for industrial strategy – considering themes like the frontiers of science, the everyday economy and aligning industry to the cause of better health.

You do not need an intimate knowledge of the NHS – we also encourage applications from those with experience on issues like industrial strategy, economic policy, skills and work, public health or similar.

You will combine intellectual flair, innovative thinking, and political knowledge with the ability to deliver high-quality and impactful work. You will have excellent project and people management skills; you may have gained these in the private, public, or voluntary sectors. Alongside excellent communication skills, you will have a passion for impact, and a drive to ensure your ideas genuinely impact on the policy process.

The 12 month role will span the research and policy work leading to the final commission report in 2023, and a legacy period of impact work, to translate our ideas into policy commitments.

IPPR is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community, and from applicants with a range of professional and lived experiences. As an organisation engaging in critical debate about a wide range of progressive policy issues, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide.

As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post including secondment and remote working. All options can be discussed at interview stage.
