We’re looking for Senior Data Analysts who will support our ambition through the analysis of labour market, skills and economic data to provide insight into people, businesses and places within the West Midlands
You’ll be responsible for analysing and interpreting labour market, skills and economic data to ensure our work is evidence-led, and our policies and programmes are shaped to best meet the needs of the region. You will have strong research and analytical skills and a commitment to using these to make a positive impact on skills and economic growth across the region.
With more funding and responsibility heading our way, we are looking to strengthen and develop our analytical capability, to ensure we take an evidence-based approach to addressing regional challenges and optimising opportunities.
About you
We’re looking for people who are motivated by the opportunity to use their technical, analytical and data interpretation skills to make an impact within the region. You won’t just be able to show us your technical knowledge, but also how you have interpreted the implications of your analysis for policy and programmes.
Essential experience:
- Use of statistical methods for interpreting and analysing data sets
- Manipulating public databases (e.g. ONS, IDBR) to identify lessons for policy and service delivery
- Collecting and validating intelligence, assessing the credibility of information and reliability of sources
- Working as a member of a team to ensure shared goals are achieved
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to analyse data, determine data quality and apply the findings using and developing PC based analysis and graphics software
- Ability to analyse and resolve highly complex information queries and problems
- Comprehensive knowledge of software skills in spreadsheets, databases and statistical methods including GIS, statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, SAS, SPSS)
- Ability to determine and develop appropriate data visualisation to communicate data meaning effectively and efficiently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external partners in a diplomatic and professional manner, managing stakeholder expectations as required
